My house and studio are located north of Blair, Nebraska off of highway
75. Nestled in the rolling hills and surrounded by over 200 acres of
farmland, it's a magical place for creating and I look forward to sharing
it with others. Look for a studio opening weekend in May of 2005!
Work first began on the new studio last spring, 2004. This
long building was full of old farm equipment, so the work included a big
clean up project. A cement slab was poured and then the area was
enclosed.
The east end of the shed is the kiln area. The
wood-salt kiln I'm currently using was built using an old electric kiln
body.
It fires great, but will be replaced within a year with a larger,
more permanent wood kiln.
The wood used to fire the kiln comes from a local
mill. They are happy to have takers for their scrap that would otherwise
end up in the landfill.
My companions, Koa and Buttercup (cat) keep watch over the
place....
